We offer two types of plexiglass prints. First, our most popular plexi print is 'Direct to Plexi'. For this print type, we print your photo directly to the back of 1/4" plexiglass, without paper. This option includes a 2" border and stainless steel standoffs. We also offer a plexiglass print solution where you first choose your high definition paper, then we mount the paper to the back of the a 1/4" piece of plexi. This option covers 100% of the plexi. Compare side by side.
When you mount to plexiglass, (one of the substrates we use), you can run into a lot of trouble if you don't know what you are doing. We have to be very careful when we mount to plexiglass.
Face mounting is complex and time-consuming. It also takes patience and meticulousness.
We take your reprinted digital photo and place it behind a piece of pre-treated plexiglass (a double-sided adhesive is applied to it). Then we very carefully place the front of the printed glass image down on the plexiglass while ensuring that no dust or lint comes between the reprint and the plexiglass.
We must also be sure that when we place the reprint behind the plexiglass that we don't allow any air bubbles to form. The final step, much easier in comparison to the former, is to back the print with the backing you choose.
Substrate refers to the kind of surface upon which a print is mounted. In the case of face mounting plexiglass prints, the substrate is plexiglass. Substrates are used by professional artists, galleries, museums, framing shops, and specialized printers to enhance the artistry and uniqueness of a photo or fine art piece.
In terms of quality, when you upload your digital photos, you will get the same high quality reprints. Both are the result of a direct printing process using large format inject printers. However, the finished products look quite different from each other.
Our custom plexiglass printing produces a sleek, shiny, modern glass reprint. With its crisp, clean edges, it would be at home in a modern art or photography gallery.
No matter which process you use, your personalized print is a treasure forever.
